New General Store Open in Effingham

Effingham-Clay Service Company recently held a grand opening celebration for their new General Store in Effingham, Ill. The store not onlyfeatures traditional FAST STOP fueling options and convenience store items, but also a propane dispenser for propane-powered vehicles, Illinois homegrown products, and a general store area with pet food, boots, fencing supplies, and more. Garage doors are also on display, courtesy of the cooperative's Altamont Overhead Door business.

The Illinois Homegrown products display includes jams and jellies, salsas, preserves, sauces, candles, and dry mixes. A cooler holds a variety of meats and cheeses.

The general store area of the building has a wide variety of farm and animal supplies. The prize drawing table was a popular stop for guests at the grand opening.

Evergreen FS Wraps Up "Goals for Gas" Promotion

Evergreen FS, Inc., Bloomington, Ill., recently completed its Goals for Gas promotion with the Blooomington Prairie Thunder hockey team. The program gave hockey fans two cents off per gallon of gas for each goal the Prairie Thunder scored at home games at participating FAST STOP locations in central Illinois. Patrons could also enter to win a $500 gas card at the last home game of the season.

The grand prize winner was Ed Ruhrup, a regular FAST STOP customer. He received his prize on the ice during the second intermission from Don Herring, energy department manager, and Monica Thomas, energy marketing assistant. Thomas also participated in the pre-game honorary puck drop.

Goals for Gas

"Goals for Gas" at six FS FAST STOP locations in Bloomington, Danvers, and Towanda, Ill. Bloomington PrairieThunder hockey fans can present their ticket stubs to receive two cents off per gallon of gasoline for each goal scored by the PrairieThunder, regardless of whether the team wins or loses.


There is no limit on the amount of discount available; however, the discount is only good on the first ten gallons purchased within 24 hours of the game. On November 15, the PrairieThunder scored six goals, resulting in a 12-cent discount and the largest number of tickets redeemed. The promotion will continue after each home game through April 10, 2009.


Each ticket redeemed is also entered into a drawing for a $500 FS FAST STOP gift card, to be presented at the final home game of the season.
